Dosha Remedies

Mangal (Manglik) Dosha

Kuja Dosha, Bhom Dosha

Causes

When Mars (Mangal) is placed in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th house from the lagna (ascendant) in the birth chart. The severity varies by house placement -- Mars in the 1st or 7th is considered most intense.

Effects

Delays in marriage, marital discord, conflicts with spouse, aggression in relationships, and potential separation or divorce. Not everyone with Mangal Dosha suffers -- the effect depends on Mars dignity, aspect, and overall chart strength.

Remedies

  • Kumbh Vivah (marriage to a pot/a banana tree before the actual wedding) is the classical remedy
  • Perform Mangal Shanti Puja before or after marriage
  • Recite Hanuman Chalisa daily, especially on Tuesdays
  • Donate red items (lentils, cloth, coral) on Tuesdays
  • Worship Lord Hanuman or Kartikeya regularly
  • Marry another Manglik person (dosha cancels out)
  • Chant Angaraka Ashtakam for Mars pacification

Kaal Sarp Dosha

Kala Sarpa Yoga

Causes

When all seven planets (Sun through Saturn) are hemmed between Rahu (North Node) and Ketu (South Node) in the birth chart. The Dosha has 12 types based on Rahu's position, the most severe being Anant (Rahu in 1st house) and Pingala (Rahu in 6th house).

Effects

Delayed success, obstacles in career and marriage, financial struggles, health issues, mental stress, and feeling stuck in life despite effort. The severity depends on whether beneficial planets like Jupiter are also trapped between Rahu-Ketu.

Remedies

  • Nag Puja and Rudra Abhishek on special occasions
  • Chant Maha Mrityunjaya mantra 108 times daily
  • Donate black items and feed Brahmins on Saturdays
  • Worship Lord Shiva and perform Rudra Abhishek
  • Visit and offer milk to snakes at Nag temples (e.g., Ujjain, Nagpur)
  • Recite Durga Saptashati (Devi Mahatmya) for Rahu-Ketu pacification
  • Observe fast on Amavasya (new moon) days
  • Wear Gomed (Hessonite) or Cat's Eye (Lehsunia) ONLY after chart analysis

Sade Sati (Saturn's Seven-and-a-Half Years)

Shani Dhaiya (the two-and-a-half-year sub-period)

Causes

When Saturn transits the 12th, 1st, and 2nd houses from the natal Moon -- a period of approximately 7.5 years that occurs roughly every 30 years. Shani Dhaiya is the 2.5-year transit of Saturn over the 4th or 8th from the natal Moon.

Effects

Increased responsibilities, delays in endeavours, health challenges, strained relationships, karmic lessons, and financial discipline. Despite the difficult reputation, Sade Sati often brings long-term growth, maturity, and spiritual development.

Remedies

  • Chant Shani Stotram (Dasha Shloki) or Shani Chalisa daily
  • Light a mustard oil diya (lamp) under a Peepal tree every Saturday
  • Donate black sesame, mustard oil, iron items, and blankets on Saturdays
  • Serve the elderly, disabled, and underprivileged
  • Feed black crows and black dogs on Saturdays
  • Visit Shani temples (Shingnapur, Kokilavan)
  • Recite Hanuman Chalisa for protection from Shani afflictions
  • Keep a fast on Saturdays (only fruits and milk)

Pitra Dosha (Ancestral Debt)

Pitru Dosha, Pitri Rin

Causes

When the Sun and/or Moon are afflicted by Rahu, Ketu, or Saturn in the birth chart, particularly in the 9th house of fortune and ancestors. Also, when the 9th lord is weak or placed in the 6th/8th/12th house. It signifies unresolved ancestral karma.

Effects

Obstacles in career and prosperity, difficulty in conception, health issues in the family, lack of ancestral support, and a persistent feeling of being stuck or unsupported by family lineage.

Remedies

  • Perform Shraddha and Tarpan rituals during Pitru Paksha (the 15-day ancestral period)
  • Offer pind daan at Gaya, Haridwar, or any holy river
  • Feed Brahmins and the poor on Amavasya (new moon) days
  • Chant Pitru Stotram or Garuda Purana verses
  • Donate white items (rice, flour, cloth) in the father's name
  • Perform Kanya Daan or support education of girls
  • Plant a Peepal or Tulsi tree in honour of ancestors

Nadi Dosha

Nadi Dosham

Causes

In Kundali matching (Guna Milan for marriage), Nadi Dosha occurs when the bride and groom have the same Nadi (one of three -- Adi, Madhya, Antya). Nadi represents the constitution/health compatibility. It is considered the most serious of the 8 Gunas (ashtakoota).

Effects

Compatibility issues in marriage, health problems for children, and potential disharmony between partners. Nadi Dosha is treated critically -- it cancels all other matching points in traditional systems.

Remedies

  • If Nadi is same but other Gunas are strong (30+), marriage is sometimes allowed with compensating pujas
  • Perform Nadi Shanti Puja or Mrityunjaya Havan before marriage
  • Chant Maha Mrityunjaya mantra 108 times
  • Donate green items and feed Brahmins
  • Worship Lord Shiva and perform Abhishek
  • Some traditions allow marriage with different Gotra despite Nadi Dosha

Causes

Effects

Initial difficulties in life, health challenges in infancy, delayed achievements, and sensitivity to environmental energies. Classical texts prescribe specific shanti (pacification) rituals to neutralise the effect.

Remedies

  • Perform Nakshatra Shanti Havan or Puja within 27 days of birth (for infants)
  • Chant the specific Nakshatra mantra of the birth nakshatra

Important Safety Notes

Gemstones: Always wear gemstones after consulting a qualified astrologer who has analysed your full birth chart. A gemstone that benefits one person may amplify problems for another based on planetary placements. Blue sapphire (Neelam) and diamond (Heera) are particularly strong and must be tested before wearing.

Mantras: Mantras are most effective when chanted with devotion and proper pronunciation. The recommended count is 108 repetitions (one mala) per session, ideally during the planetary hour of the corresponding planet.

Donations: Dana (charity) is considered one of the most powerful remedies in Vedic astrology. Donating items associated with a weak or afflicted planet helps balance its energy and reduces karmic obstacles.
